Rachel Odes Interviwed by KQED

Rachel Odes,  a third-year doctoral student in the School of Nursing studying workplace violence in healthcare settings was interviewed by KQED as a psychiatric nurse and doctoral student researching this topic to provide insight into how these types of serious incidents can occur. She is currently conducting analysis on data submitted to the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration by over 400 hospitals across California from 2017-2018. Early findings show that behavioral health unit workers have increased odds of reported incidents involving physical injury compared to other hospital locations and that incidents occurring in inpatient units have lower odds of police involvement after the incident.
